Position Description |
United States Steel Corporation is looking for a Manager - Raw Materials. The Manager - Raw Materials reports directly to the Fairfield Tubular Steel Operations Manager. The position works closely with customers, suppliers, operating groups and procurement to acquire materials needed for operations.
Job Responsibilities:
• Negotiate and ensure adequate supply of raw materials to FTSO
• Coordinate with FTSO personnel the daily logistics activity for delivery of goods
• Coordinate with FTSO personnel to ensure quality vendor and product performance through quality systems
• Prepare and issue Request for Quotations (RFQ) to suppliers
• Interfaces with USS Government Affairs on transportation issues.
• Nominates vessels for transportation of raw materials. • Negotiates spot freight rates for rail, barge, truck, and vessel movements.
• Maintains freight rate file (tariffs, contract etc.) and database of freight rates and prepares analyses of rate options.
• Maintains records of raw materials transportation activity used for planning, monitoring and performance tracking.
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in scrap and alloys management or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Understanding of service contracts and requirements
• Purchasing experience in raw materials
• Operations experience
• Understanding of plant process flows
• Knowledge of logistics preferred
• Strong computer skills for development and use of spreadsheets and databases
• Strong analytical and planning skills
